India is at the top of the world list in AI Advantage with a total of 53/100 scores. It is the leader among 29 countries in EY’s Work Reimagined Survey. The world’s average is at 34 scores. It is more remarkable for an Indian lead.

The list places India Ranking: India ranks higher among countries like Indonesia (50), New Zealand (47), China (45), and the UAE (44). On the lower side of the list, some developed nations were positioned much lower, like Canada (17), Sweden (16), Italy (16), Ireland (14), and Finland (12).

The interesting thing about this is not only the leadership position that India has, but the fact that the countries that India has surpassed are, themselves, countries which have an older technology infrastructure base or spend more per capita.

There are some key reasons, according to experts, for the Indian advantage:

  • A huge, AI-ready talent pool
  • Adoption of AI by IT services, startups, and organizations at a rapid pace
  • Cost-effective experimentation and rapid deployment cycles
  • Increased comfort with AI in their work environment, beyond pilots

This data supports a broader trend in the global AI race. Now, being at the top is not determined by who invests the most in AI—but by who does so better and faster.

For India, this result means more than just progress. It indicates that AI is set to become an asset in terms of doing work differently.
