Claude Code has also enhanced its functionality through a new integration with OpenRouter, enabling developers to utilize more than 320 large language models, including 39 free ones, through a single workflow.

Thanks to this update, developers will be able to integrate any model supported by OpenRouter while retaining the familiar shapes and types of the Anthropic API. This will mean that no changes are necessary for codes that run on the current Claude model.

One of the major benefits of this integration is the central monitoring of model usage. This will help track the usage of different models in projects, which will make it simpler to handle costs, performance, and experiments.

By marrying Claude Code’s developer-centric tooling with Open Router’s extensive model access, this release offers developers even more flexibility, visibility, and control over how they build with AI, without being tied to one model ecosystem only.

The Claude Code + OpenRouter integration is now live.
